June 13, 1965 - December 29, 2019
Emilio was a devoted family man, a faithful child of God, a beloved brother in spirit, a comrade in service, a soldier of the cosmic circles, and a loyal friend to countless people in the Urantia community.
His untimely death at the age of 54 took us by surprise and wrenched our hearts. Our deep faith in eternal life sustains us as we honor his life and celebrate his journey to the worlds of glory and higher accomplishment which lie beyond this evolutionary world of ours.
Woven with our joy in his new life are the chords of grief for his wife and family and all who held him dear. May we each breathe gently with the rhythms of eternity and rest in the infinite love and light of our Divine Parents.
Emilio Coppola in his own words from The Urantia Book Fellowship Site
"Born and raised a Catholic boy in Rye, NY and now living in Virginia Beach, VA, Emilio has been a licensed Financial professional since 1988 and has started and run several small businesses. Currently he is the owner of a firm that manages investments and consults with companies on their financial options for funding their businesses.
Emilio started reading The Urantia Book in April, 1996, and has attended study groups in several cities throughout the United States over the years. He has been a member of The Urantia Book Society of Greater New York since March 2005, and has served many roles in the society. He has also been a member of the New England Urantia Book Group (UAI) since December, 2007.
Emilio has been The Urantia Book Fellowship Treasurer since 2009 as well as the UrantiaUniversity Treasurer since 2010. He has been a member of the Urantia Book Foundation IT Round Table meetings over several different years. He is strongly motivated to disseminate the teachings of The Urantia Book, and to serve all of his brothers and sisters in any way that he is able.
One may wonder where Emilio gets the energy for his service dedication. His answer: "The more I read the Urantia Book, the more I want to tell people about it!" His daily prayer is to do the Father's will, and he makes himself available for that. Consequently, he finds that opportunities continually flow into his life. Beyond that, for any "figuring out" of how he'll be used, he simply leaves that to God."
Emilio frequently declared that he wanted to serve The Urantia Book Revelation in ways beyond just financial donations ... He also wanted to serve the Urantia Book organizations with his talents and time, which he did in full measure up to the day of his death.

My Loving Memory of George Sammis
A Great Soldier of the Circles
by Elisabeth Callahan
When George Sammis signed up for our first UUI class in the fall of 2014, he was still in Saipan with his beloved wife, Hilda. He was already in the process of building the house in Baguio. He immediately grasped what we were trying to build and often remarked that he thought it was the greatest project in the history of the Urantia movement.
George enrolled in our second UUI online class, Merritt Horn's "Perspectives On Study," in November 2014, and immediately committed his time, talents, and resources to helping UUI grow. He was one of UUI's greatest benefactors while also providing enormous classroom support to our UUI instructors.
George's multi-level support and enthusiastic cheerleading for our efforts meant the world to me. It truly encouraged me and all of our volunteer staff to keep soldiering onward. His unswerving faith and efforts helped to establish UUI. His contributions are one of the cornerstones of our school. I will miss his enthusiastic support and brotherly love more than I can say.
George was a remarkable contributor to the Urantia movement. Along with Tim Young, George was the visionary co-creator of the Brotherhood of Man [Lending] Library back in the late 80's. This project was the first attempt to share both electronic and hard copy versions (as well as video and audio tapes) of secondary works related to The Urantia Book with the domestic and international community of UB readers and students.
This occurred before the Internet as we know it today, and reveals George as a great innovator and mass communicator. In the business arena George was the owner of a thermographic printing business in Mason City, Iowa, which he founded in the early 70s. The company had a large Asian customer base at one time, which gave George the opportunity to make frequent sales trips to China and other Asian countries over the years.
Among his other forms of service, George gave a great deal of personal time to being a UUI classroom moderator in 2015-2016. The UUI instructors marveled at his social skills and ability to reach out to other people and easily form friendly relationships. His passion for the Urantia revelation and genuine interest in other people enabled him to facilitate lively discussions on the classroom chat boards. We all loved him dearly, were inspired by his zeal in sharing the teachings of The Urantia Book, and valued his service to the nth degree.
"That which the enlightened and
reflective human imagination of spiritual teaching and leading wholeheartedly and unselfishly
wants to do and be,
becomes measurably creative
in accordance with the degree
of mortal dedication to the divine
doing of the Father’s will.
When man goes in partnership
with God, great things may,
and do, happen. "
In my experience of George, he was a humble man who never gave himself enough credit for his scholarship in Urantia Book studies. However, I will testify to the depth of his knowledge and his integrated understanding of the major parts of the book and the interconnections between
science, religion and philosophy.
He had a deep, abiding faith in God and Jesus, in the eternal life of the soul, in the Mother Spirit and the angels, and in the fact that he and all people are indwelt by a Spirit fragment of God that acts as a pilot leading us to our true eternal home. George's faith in God and enthusiastic embrace of the sublime teachings found in The Urantia Book were tremendously inspiring to me and others.
